Service Description

Highlights -Create your own wooden butter' jam spreader using traditional hand tools and woodworking methods. -Learning knife carving techniques, holds and safety, -Discuss sustainable wood selection, and local wood species. -The experience is between 60 to 90 minutes. Experience Detail This course will investigate the use of traditional hand tools in carving your very own butter/jam spreader. We will discuss carving techniques, wood types and selection, and general wood carving processes. Beginning with a log, we will work through the steps of axing, and carving. Each participant can expect to make their own spreader by the end of the class. Tools and materials will be provided by the instructor, but bring your own tools if you have them. About Zach has been creating using green wood shortly after finishing a thru-hike on the Appalachian Trail in the fall of 2017. His work is all done either on a foot-powered lathe, or carved using traditional hand tools such as axes, gouges, and knives. He aims to create simple, functional, everyday items that connect individuals to a piece of their natural surroundings. Inclusions - Each participant can expect to carve their own wooden spoon. - All tools and materials will be provided by the instructor, but bring your own if you’d like. Exclusions - Transportation to and from the location. - Extra artworks you wish to purchase. Remarks - Considering the use of knives and sharp objects, this course is best for individuals 14 and up, unless accompanied by an adult. - Please be reminded to come to the class on time. - This is a smoke-free residence. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. - This is not a private session. You might be able to meet new friends who also love food!

Cancellation Policy

Guests can cancel reservations 7 days before the Experiences with a full refund minus 5% third-party transaction fee; 5 days before the Experiences with a 70% refund; and 2 days before the Experiences with a 50% refund. If the experience is scheduled to take place within forty-eight hours, the Guests will not be entitled to a refund.
