Host Interview: Alexandria Davis
Alexandria Davis is hosting Bake Innovative Dessert with Alex and Woofully Delicious Baking Class in Richmond, VA with FoodiePath.
Question 1: Could you introduce yourself a little bit?
My name is Alexandria Davis and I teach baking lessons through FoodiePath. I teach how to make pasties and also dog treats and have been on Virginia this Morning to share my dog treat recipe through Foodie Path. I run a small pastry business called Tiny Vines Food Co where I sell at Farmers Markets. I have been running my business for a little over 1 year and a half. I sell an array of sweet treats that are more on the uncommon side.
Question 2: What inspired your love of baking?
My father inspired me to get into cooking initially, after a while I started getting into baking and have loved it ever since.
Question 3: What do you love most about teaching baking?
I love connecting with people and seeing how happy people get when they can see their creation. I love to see people bonding with each other and laughing as they learn to make desserts.
Question 4: Why did you join FoodiePath?
I joined FoodiePath so I can meet new people and teach others how to make pastries and treats.
Question 5: What’s your baking secret?
I would say that my baking secret is that practice makes perfect, it takes a lot of time and trial and error. But if I were to share my baking secrets I will have to kill you.
Question 6: Please share with us one of your favorite recipes.
Makes 2 8 x 4-inch loaf pans of pumpkin bread Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1½ sticks unsalted butter, softened
2 cups sugar
2 large eggs
1 15-oz can 100% pure pumpkin
1. Preheat oven to 325 F
2. Mix all dry ingredients together
3. Add in soften butter
4. Add in pumpkin purée
5. Mix everything well
6. Place both pans in oven and wait for 65-75 mins
7. Pull out of oven and let it rest for 10 min.
